Privacy Policy for SnapGo-AI

Last Updated: June 22, 2024

Welcome to SnapGo-AI! This Privacy Policy explains how GradInnovate Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you use our SnapGo-AI macOS application, our website, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

Your privacy is the highest priority for us. We have designed SnapGo-AI from the ground up with a "local-first" and "privacy-first" architecture. This policy aims to be as transparent as possible about our data practices.

1. What This Policy Covers

This policy covers our treatment of information that we gather when you are accessing or using our Service. It does not apply to the practices of companies that we don't own or control, or people that we don't manage.

2. Information We Collect

We have made a conscious effort to collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide and improve the Service.

Information You Provide to Us:

  • Account Information: If you choose to create an account to subscribe to SnapGo-AI Pro, we collect your email address and/or authentication tokens provided by third-party sign-in services like Apple or Google. This is used solely for account creation, authentication, and communication regarding your account.

Information Collected Automatically:

  • Anonymous Usage Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymous statistical information to help us understand how users engage with the Service. This includes data like feature usage frequency, application launch counts, and crash reports. This data is non-personal, cannot be tied to a specific user's content, and helps us improve the user experience and fix bugs.
  • Subscription Status: We interact with Apple's In-App Purchase system to validate your subscription status. We receive an anonymized receipt from Apple to confirm that you have a valid subscription; we do not receive or store any of your personal payment information (like credit card details).

Information We Explicitly DO NOT Collect:

This is the most important part of our privacy commitment.

  • We DO NOT access, store, or transmit the contents of your local SnapGo-AI database. Your library of captured items, notes, ideas, and their metadata is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database file on your Mac. We have no access to it.
  • We DO NOT collect personal information from the content you analyze. When you use a feature that requires cloud-based AI analysis, the content (e.g., a screenshot) is sent to our backend service anonymously, without any user-identifying information.
  • We DO NOT collect or transmit your on-device search queries. All "Smart Search" functionality happens 100% on your device. Your search queries and the content being searched never leave your Mac.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the minimal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service: Authenticating your account and processing your subscription.
  • To improve the Service: Understanding which features are most popular and identifying areas for improvement through anonymous analytics.
  • To communicate with you: Sending you service-related announcements, updates, or support responses.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Service Providers: We use third-party services to operate SnapGo-AI, such as Google (for Firebase services) and Apple (for App Store distribution and In-App Purchases). These companies are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide these services to us.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe it's required by law, a subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

5. Our Privacy-First Architecture in Detail

a. Local Data Storage

The core of SnapGo-AI is your local database. All text, images, and AI-generated metadata (like categories or extracted event descriptions) you capture are stored in a database file located on your Mac's hard drive. This file is not synced to our servers, and we cannot access it.

b. Anonymous Cloud AI Analysis

For features that require advanced AI processing (e.g., initial content categorization), the specific piece of content is sent to our secure backend API. This request is anonymous by design:

  • No user ID, account email, or IP address is sent with the content.
  • The content is processed and the result is returned to your application.
  • We do not log or store the content on our servers after the analysis is complete.

c. On-Device Smart Search

The "Smart Search" feature is powered by a large language model that you download to your computer. When you search your content, the query is processed by this local model against the local index of your data. This entire process happens on your Mac, ensuring the complete privacy of your searches.

6. Your Data Rights and Choices

Because we hold very little personal information, your rights are straightforward:

  • Access or Delete Your Account: You can request the deletion of your account information (your email address) by contacting us at the email below. Deleting the application from your Mac will delete your local content database.
  • Opt-out of Analytics: You can control analytics collection through the settings in the application (if provided) or by managing your system-level privacy settings.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and administrative security measures to protect the information we do store (i.e., account and anonymous analytics data). All communication with our services is encrypted using TLS/SSL.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the new policy in the application or on our website.
